The new web site, www.sustainableokc.org, is a very good start of what
could eventually become a great, ever-expanding resource. I have one
question though.... In the main heading, it states: "Think Smart". In
this case, smart is used as an adverb, so shouldn't the correct form be
"Think Smartly"? You could say, "That is smart thinking." in which case
smart is used as an adjective. However, I can see how "think smart" has
kind of a mover/shaker effect--boom, boom, two syllables---that "think
smartly" doesn't convey. But then I never got used to Clinton talking about
how he was going to "grow jobs" like they were some sort of natural living
resource like broccoli or cauliflower. Am I being too picky?
I also don't like it when politicians talk about how our children are "our
greatest natural resources," as if they are merely so much raw ore or
petroleum to be mined and distilled into salable commodities. Human beings
have existential value far beyond any sort of material value or marketing
strategy that materialists may try to ascribe to them. But I am going far
off on a tangent....
