For all those who are interested there will be a work day at Draper Lake on August 19th. The project will start at 8:00 am, but volunteers are free to come and go as it is convenient. If you arrive at 8:00 am, the groupo is meeting at the boat ramp by the concession stand (S. 104th east of Midwest Blvd.)

The purpose of this work day is to plant vegetation near the edge of Draper Lake in an effort to establish a vegetated wetland around the shallows of the lake. A successful outcome of this project will provide a more scenic view to lake visitors and a better home for diverse lake wildlife. This project is primarily run by the Oklahoma Water Resources Board.

It will be helpful to arrive in trucks or cars (if possible) that are able to travel on rough dirt roads to access various points around the lake. You will be getting wet at least up to your knees, but they advised it is cooler to go prepared for a full dip in the lake. It is suggested you wear old clothes and shoes that can get muddy and bring sunscreen, a hat, and either a sack lunch or money for the concessions stand. Ice water will be provided.

Please contact Laura at sunnylaurarenee at yahoo.com if you are planning to attend or would like more information.
