Hello to all

We are working on creating a green building guide for the OKC/ central
Oklahoma area, with a focus on residential construction: The concept
thus far is to utilize a rating system(s) such as LEED for homes, Energy
Star which recognizes different levels of achievement (gold, silver,
bronze for example) depending on how many points for sustainable/
efficient measures are incorporated . The rating systems could serve as
reference point for the format of the guide.

We have had one informal meeting to discuss this concept. We understand
that this green guide effort was started before and we welcome anyone
interested in helping to join us. At this time we would like to form a
core group of individuals with areas of expertise that could help focus
and guide the effort: in particular it would be helpful to have people
with experience in the following areas :

architect/ designer
energy efficiency/ sustainable practices
contractor/ construction trade
attorney
accounting
public relations/ marketing
writing/ publishing
developer/ realtor,
poltical / civil service
database management

We can then work on the specific content and recruit others to help
implement the publication: a printed book, on recycled paper naturally,
and online. This could be sponsored by businesses and organizations who
would be listed in the guide (yellow pages concept if you will) .
Ideally we could get some press at release time and distribute at the
hardware stores and bookstores: and looking further down the road maybe
get local utility companies, municipalities or even the state to offer
rebates or tax incentives for homeowners that acheive a green rating.

This is a very exciting time to see that awareness is growing and
attitudes are changing: we could be a catalyst in making the built
environment in Oklahoma less wasteful, starting with the home.

If intersted in joining on as a core group member or otherwise please
email me studiof2 at cox.net or look for Jamie Maclvor or myself at the
next Green Drinks ,Tuesday the 21st. We would like to schedule a core
group meeting in the coming weeks.

Thanks
