FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NORMAN - Climate change is a topic much in the news these days. But
what is climate change? How can changes in the Earth's climate affect
the plants, animals and environments, and what does it mean for the
human population of the planet? These are some of the questions that
will be looked at in detail in a three-part mini-course offered by the
Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History in Norman . "Global
Climate Change: Past ... Present ... and Future!" is set for 7 to 8:30
p.m. on Thursday evenings, November 1, 8 and 15.

The mini-course will be taught by University of Oklahoma faculty and
researchers who are involved in studying the Earth's climate. The
workshops will take participants on a journey through time to observe
the Earth's major climatic transformations in the past, then look at
present and possible future climate changes and their impacts. The
workshop will discuss ways to mitigate the effects of climate change, as
well.

"This is a program for people who want to understand more about our
planet's climate, how it has changed over time, and how it affects life
on Earth," said museum education director Wendy Gram. "It is geared for
non-scientists, and no previous knowledge of climatology is required. We
encourage anyone who wants to better understand this important topic to
participate in the workshop."

Pre-registration for the mini-course is required. The cost is $35 per
person for museum members and $45 per person for non-members. To
register, or for additional information, call the museum education
department at (405) 325-4712. Additional information about this and
other programs at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History is
available on the Web at www.snomnh.ou.edu <http://www.snomnh.ou.edu/> .
