(Oklahoma City) Aug. 15, 2008 - Sustainable OKC (SOKC) recently launched a
blog titled "Fresh Greens" (freshgreens.typepad.com
<http://freshgreens.typepad.com/> ) to inform, educate, and spark discussion
of sustainability issues.
A diverse panel of 13 local writers will contribute to the blog, discussing
a wide range of issues including local food production, energy, green design
and building, conservation, transportation, gardening, book reviews and many
other related topics.
"Our goal was to create an open conversation that brings the community
together to not only raise awareness of sustainability issues, but to also
create an active dialogue that is locally relevant," said Shauna Struby,
president of Sustainable OKC. "There is overwhelming interest in these kinds
of discussions and Sustainable OKC is pleased to take a leadership role in
creating a forum for innovative thought and sustainable conversations."
The Fresh Greens writers come from diverse professions and backgrounds,
while representing a variety of interests, ages, experiences and industries.
You'll find perspectives ranging from an English teacher to public relations
director, community volunteer to corporate senior vice president, as well as
professional editors and writers. In addition to the regular line up, "Fresh
Greens" also plans to invite guest bloggers to contribute entries on topics
that speak to their passions or expertise.
A chapter of the Oklahoma Sustainability Network, SOKC is a grassroots
organization working at the crossroads of business, environment, and social
justice in Oklahoma City. SOKC promotes community sustainability by
facilitating grassroots action, fostering awareness of sustainability, and
serving as an informational and networking resource in the Oklahoma City
area.
