Hi ,
Last week, we wrote you about record high gas prices and the difficult
choices we are all making, and 8,000 of you responded. (If you tried to take
action but couldn't get through - we apologize. You can take action here
<http://www.uspirg.org/action/transportation/petition?id4=ES> .)
Of course, our transportation problems didn't start with $4.00 gas and they
certainly won't end there, either.
We are spending too many hours stuck in traffic, our roads and bridges are
crumbling, and our cars consume millions of barrels of oil and emit
hazardous global warming pollution. We need a new vision for transportation
in America, so we're calling on you to film it. Got a camera? Some friends
to star in your movie? Then enter our transportation video contest!

We're collecting independent videos from our biggest supporter - you! We
want to know: What should a 21st century transportation system look like or
why do things need to change?
We'll use the winning videos to help policy writers envision a better future
and see the dangers of keeping the status quo. The videos will be a critical
part of an effort to educate local and state representatives and to call on
Washington, D.C., to change the way it funds our transportation system.
Maybe you envision bicycles, walking and ultra-convenient mass transit, or
maybe the threat of endless auto gridlock and rising gas prices. Either way,
we want to see it.
Videos are due July 4. The winner will receive a $500 prize and will be
featured on our Web site. Runners-up will win $250 and $150, and honorable
mentions will receive a one-year membership to U.S. PIRG. Grab a camera, hit
the streets, and help us show our leaders in Washington a better way to go.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing your video!
Sincerely,
Andre Delattre
