Subject: [ok-sus] ALERT: Final Passage for HB2702/HB3135 in Senate
Dear OSN Listserv Members -
Late last year, Sustainable Shawnee members collaborated with Rep. Kris
Steele to write the Oklahoma Water Conservation Program Act which would
create a fund for statewide community-based water conservation programs
administered by the Oklahoma Water Resources Board. After a near death
experience in the Senate Appropriations Committee, HB2702 was grafted to
HB3135, a bill to require licensing for any new water wells or changes to
existing wells also adminstered by the OWRB. The text of both bills can be
found at www.okhouse.gov. I have attached the original HB2702 for your
information.
I'm writing to ask for everyone to contact their individual Senator ask for
his/her support for this bill. It's an exciting opportunity to educate in
communities around the state and for OSN. Though I have not been told when
or if this will be brought to a vote, I recommend you contact your Senator
immediately as the session is quickly coming to a close.
Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions.
Best Regards,
Shawna Turner
President, Sustainable Shawnee
Secretary, Oklahoma Sustainability Network

Shawna,
HB3135, containing the Oklahoma Water Conservation Grant Program Act
language, just passed the House 98-0. The next step is the Senate floor. The
bill also contains the language "contingent upon the availability of
funding".
Thank you,
Liz
