I am a consultant to the City of Edmond for a feasibility study of a
composting facility. The facility would take in various organic materials
(yard trimmings, food scraps, wastewater treatment residuals, etc.) and
produce composts and compost-amended soils. As part of the Market
Evaluation task on this project I am trying to research what green building
practices are underway or planned in central Oklahoma.
Of particular interests to this project are:
1. How many green roof projects have been built in OK and is there a
list of projects somewhere? Are there any planned green roof projects
within 50 - 100 miles of OKC that would consider using a green roof media
composed, in part, of compost?
2. Are there any building projects which have sustainable site
development practices using:
a. Compost as a soil amendment material for vegetative plant health and
vigor?
b. Compost-based bioretention pond soil media for storm water quality
management?
c. Compost use as a erosion prevention blanket or as a sediment
filtration device?
3. Are any discussions underway to support the Sustainable Sites
Initiative of the ASLA?
Thank you for any insights you can offer on this.
