As many of you know, raising backyard chickens as a source of eggs for food
security planning is a movement that's definitely on the uptick across the
nation. Some cities have revised their ordinances to allow citizens to keep
backyard laying hens (not roosters due to the crowing) and there are many
sound reasons to do so. For instance there is plenty of evidence free-range
eggs are more nutritious .

" . research into the differences between eggs from hens raised naturally on
pastures rather than in factory farmed cage operations has revealed a host
of other nutritional plusses. Pastured eggs are higher in lutein and
zeaxanthin; folic acid; vitamins A, B12, D and E; beta carotene; and omega-3
fatty acids. Learn more about the health benefits of eggs in Meet

In Oklahoma City, Sara and David Braden have started an online petition for
this purpose and are working to grow momentum for this issue to bring it to
the attention of OKC's city council.

How can you help?

. If you'd like to sign the petition, you can do so here :::

you're interested in working on this project, please contact Sara at
srbraden at gmail.com or 405.525.2693.

. If you have friends, family and email lists you think might be
interested in signing the petition or helping Sara, please consider sharing
