Congratulations are in order to the Oklahoma Department of Human Services,
the Kerr Center for Sustainable Agriculture and a host of others!

 

History was made yesterday July 22, 2009, at 1:51 p.m. CST in Mangum as
Oklahoma's first farmers market SNAP transaction was completed. This give
those receiving SNAP benefits (formerly known as food stamps) the ability to
purchase fresh, local food at farmers markets. 

 

A new day in healthy food options is under way for SNAP recipients and
another step on the path to social justice and equity for all Oklahomans.
