. "Listening Session": You Speak Up, 5:30 on May 19
Final Reminder: Come out Tuesday May 19 at 5:30 pm to Red Cross when the
APT meeting is planned to listen to YOU. On May 19 your ideas for MAPS 3
and ideas on how to establish better on-going funding for rubber tire
transit, rail transit, and other transit will also be encouraged, table by
table.
Refreshments and light snacks will be served and that meeting is free and is
at 5:30 pm at Red Cross, just southeast of NE 8th and Lincoln in Oklahoma
City at 601 NE 6th. An RSVP is preferred, but not required.
. Go Online: Add Electric Streetcars to MAPS 3?
Please cast a vote or comment at the "OKC Central" blog of Steve Lackmeyer.
In essence he is trying to focus and gauge this week's sentiment among his
blog followers about adding streetcar light rail in the greater downtown.
The APT has long believed that better rubber tire and rail transit are both
needed. Yesterday, the Mayor of Oklahoma City showed real leadership and
gave better transit his vote of confidence in front of over 800 people at
the Cox Center, but he seems to seek real affirmation by people. So, one way
is tell your friends and colleagues and just click on this and participate.

. Get a Gazette
The cover article of the new May 13 Oklahoma Gazette is about the prospect
of building a downtown OKC electric streetcar system on tracks. This is a
leading option under the Alternatives Analysis (AA) study METRO Transit has
been starting up in recent months and COTPA (METRO Transit) says the AA
process welcomes public input like this. Some cities have built or are
planning to build theirs without your federal tax dollars. The Gazette
article features Jeff Bezdek, an APT Boardmember, and Jeff explains the idea
and the aims of the Modern Transit Project (MTP) of which he is also an
organizer and spokesman. The article is very interesting and mentions the
April 21 APT meetings. The APT Board has discussed the MTP and sees much
common ground between the two and has applauded Jeff's initiative. A great
article!
