A summary of NEEF research
________________________________
To Whom it May Concern:
Thank you for taking the time to communicate with me several weeks ago
in regards to a research project that the National Environmental
Education Foundation (NEEF) is conducting on the state of environmental
education initiatives in the U.S. I recently submitted my research to
NEEF, who will review all of your comments as they move forward in their
research. As promised, I wanted to also send you a brief summary of the
research in the hopes that your organization might also benefit from our
findings.
Attached to this email you will find two documents:
The first, "NEEF Research_Summary of Findings-FINAL FOR DISTRIBUTION",
offers a 3-page summary of both the phone interviews I held with
representatives from over 20 non-profits, federal agencies, and academic
institutions, as well as a summary of the literature I gathered on
current trends in the field of environmental education. You'll note
that because I did not ask for permission to publicly quote any
respondents, no organizational names or names of individuals are
mentioned in this document. It is instead intended to serve as a
general summary of what were found to be some of the key trends in the
field of EE today.
The second document, "NEEF Research_Lit Review-FINAL FOR DISTRIBUTION",
offers lists of over 75 journal articles, reports, and books pertaining
to the field of EE today. You'll note that the document is divided by
tabs into three sheets. The first pertains to research that is
completed, the second pertains to ongoing research, and the third
contains a general list of past research conducted by NEEF. Within each
sheet you'll also note that the list is organized according to sources
that are actual research studies, and those that are more "popular"
sources of literature. It is also organized by subject--e.g.
"psychology/motivation", "benefits of EE", etc.
Thank you again for your thoughtful and insightful comments in regards
to what you feel are the most popular trends and pressing concerns
within EE today. I hope this summary of research is beneficial to you.
Please don't hesitate to be in touch if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Karen Schultz
