Oklahoma City is hosting a Flood Risk, Reduction and Recovery Forum to educate residents citywide
about issues caused by flooding. Those impacted by the June and July floods are urged to attend. 

The forum will be held from 6:30 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 12 in the auditorium at Metro Tech
Springlake Campus, 1900 Springlake Drive.

Speakers will discuss flood plain management plans, flood risks, flood maps, flood insurance,
drainage channel maintenance, the process to request a disaster declaration for Individual
Assistance and eligibility for Small Business Administration (SBA) loans.

"Residents were caught by surprise by the City's recent floods," Ward 7 Councilman Skip Kelly said.
"This forum will help people understand what their risk of flooding is, the ins and outs of
floodplain maps and how to protect their property from future floods." 

Speakers include representative from Federal and State Emergency Management Agencies (FEMA), the
U.S. Corps of Engineers, Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), Small Business Administration
(SBA) and the City of Oklahoma City.
