Sustainable OKC Celebrates 5th Anniversary
SOKC to host special Green Drinks party at Flip's Wine Bar

(Oklahoma City) July 6, 2010 - Get your kazoo and party hat ready because Sustainable OKC<http://www.sustainableokc.org/> is turning five! The non-profit organization is celebrating five years of promoting community sustainability through grassroots action, fostering awareness of sustainability, and serving as an informational and networking resource in the Oklahoma City area

In honor of the milestone birthday, Sustainable OKC will be hosting a special Green Drinks party on July 13, 2010 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Flip's Wine Bar & Trattoria<http://www.flipswinebar.com/>. The organization's founding members, Jennifer Gooden Seibold, Hannah Harder, Laura Brunson and Lisa Wood will also be honored.

Through a variety of collaborative projects and workshops such as Buy Fresh Buy Local Central Oklahoma<http://www.facebook.com/pages/Buy-Fresh-Buy-Local-Central-Oklahoma/125668447613#!/pages/Buy-Fresh-Buy-Local-Central-Oklahoma/125668447613?v=wall>, Transition OKC<http://www.goinglocalokc.com/>, an online community calendar<http://www.sustainableokc.org/calendar/month.php>, and a networking email listserv<http://www.sustainableokc.org/emaillist.php>, Sustainable OKC provides the general public and its members news about sustainability and related topics, events, workshops, information and resources for the Oklahoma City community and beyond.

"Over the last five years Sustainable OKC has grown into a strong, viable organization with a reputation for vision, partnerships and action which strengthen our community in many positive ways," said Dan Yates, president of Sustainable OKC. "We are excited to take a moment and celebrate our past while also looking ahead at our bright future."

Sustainable OKC invites the public to join in the celebration on July 13 and gather at Flip's Wine Bar & Trattoria with many of the area's sustainability leaders and visionaries. Originally started in England in 1989, Green Drinks events are held around the world and promote casual conversation, fun, networking, brainstorming, and action among people interested in sustainability. SOKC will provide cake, in addition to food and beverages which can be purchased off of the restaurant's regular menu.
