Subject: [OKC] FW: Tallamy event July 18 - sustaining wildlife with native plants
Douglas Tallamy, author of the award-winning book, Bringing Nature Home; How You Can Sustain
Wildlife with Native Plants will be speaking at the OKC Zoo Education Auditorium on the 18th and The
Tulsa Garden Center on the 19th. His book makes the powerful argument that each of us, no matter
the size of our yard, can greatly increase biodiversity by planting natives and making simple
changes in our landscaping habits. Doug is a professor of Entomology at the University of
Delaware, has spoken on NPR and is a frequent speaker at venues across the country.
Because the zoo generously donated use of their facility there is no charge for the OKC event, but
they'd like to have an idea of how many to expect. You may call 405-255-1707 for a reservation or
leave a note at marilyn at wildthingsnursery.com Pre-registering will put your name in the pot for
door prizes.
In Tulsa you may make reservations by calling the Tulsa Garden Center at 918-746-5125. There is a
$5 charge in Tulsa. There will also be a raffle and great door prizes.
Both venues will have native plants and books available, doors open at 6:15, Doug will speak at
7:00.
