Limited partial scholarships are still available for the RC&D State Summit, Aug 16-17 at Western
Hills Guest Ranch.  This Year's topic will be non-profit board management and governance.  All
involved with non-profits are welcome regardless of their affiliation with RC&D.  Registration due
to Chisholm Trail RC&D, 3901 W Beech, Duncan, OK 73533 before July 28.

 

Anyone willing to donate a southwest Oklahoma item to the silent auction, please call or email Stacy
Cramer or drop the item by the Duncan USDA Service Center.

Marnie Taylor

Community Leader

 

            Marnie Taylor is an Oklahoma City-based community volunteer and experienced board
member. She currently serves the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits as a member of the board of
directors and as the co-chair of the Center's Board Development Committee.

            Her array of community involvement has led her to various leadership roles. Marnie is
the board president of the Oklahoma Outreach Foundation and serves as the board vice president of
Sunbeam Family Services. She is the past board president of CASA and the Notre Dame Club of OKC. She
is also active in the Friends of the (Governor's) Mansion, St. Luke's Methodist Church, World
Neighbors, Edgemere Park Neighborhood Association, Oklahoma City Historic Preservation, The Good
Government Group, Oklahoma Arts Institute, Citizens for Juvenile Justice, and Phi Delta Theta: OSU
Parents Club.   

            Her service to the community has been honored and recognized by several organizations,
some include: the National Association for Community Leadership as "Distinguished Alumni," Oklahoma
Hospitality Club Women through "Woman in the News," and Notre Dame Club of OKC as "Person of the
Year." 

            She is a member of Junior League of Oklahoma City and is a graduate of Leadership
Oklahoma City. She earned a marketing degree from the University of Notre Dame.

History

Jeri Towler is an avid volunteer for the underprivileged including for her younger sister who was
born mentally handicapped.  Throughout her life Jeri has participated in the joys of helping those
who are in need. As a community volunteer, Jeri aided organizations in acquiring tax exempt status
and in fund raising.

 

Experience

While in law school Jeri received mediation training and volunteered as a mediator for Small Claims
Court.  Immediately after law school Jeri took the position of General Council for a privately held
for-profit corporation. In 2004, Jeri incorporated her law practice and today she limits her
practice to not for profit law.  Projects have included separating not for profit organizations from
governmental agencies, assisting organizations in attaining tax exempt status or maintaining tax
exempt status, managing issues surrounding embezzlement, merging or dissolving organizations as well
as  updating bylaws and policies.  In addition, Jeri enjoys teaching legal responsibility classes to
and for a variety of organizations and foundations.
