Subject: November Email Blast
Importance: High
Hello Everyone,
Here is the first November Email blast from the APT. There will be another
one a little later in the month with some exciting news about an upcoming
series of Transit Talks. This email is a duplicate of the last one but you
are being asked to pay close attention to the lunch information for the
November 9th General Membership meeting. As always, if you have any
questions, please direct them to me at jsmecham at cox.net or
postmaster at okapt.org. I will pass them to the appropriate people or get back
to you with an answer after researching the question.
Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday at the Gold Dome, I am,
Joe Mecham

>>>RTD? -Tuesday, November 9 APT General Membership Lunch
The Oklahoma Alliance for Public Transportation (APT) is meeting at the Gold
Dome building at the corner of NW 23rd and Classen in Oklahoma City. Doug
Rex, Transportation and Data Services Manager of ACOG is featured as the
guest speaker and he is on the Program to give a talk on the outcomes of the
Regional Transit Dialogue (RTD). He will also present the emerging prospect
of a RTD II.
The APT is a 501c3 grassroots organization and it listened well to you in
2009, worked hard to help form and pass MAPS3, and you elected a board this
summer. Come learn about what APT has in store and how you can get more
engaged in improving rail and rubber tire transit.
The lunch tickets will cost only $8 (pay at the door) and you are also
allowed to brownbag. You must RSVP no later than 8:00 p.m. on Sunday,
November 7th ONLY if you want a lunch ticket and you may specify if you
desire a vegetarian sandwich. The orders will be turned in on Monday
morning. Please remember to attend and pay, as your APT can not to cover
afford unpaid lunches!
Other than that, the meeting is free and there is ample parking in the lots
at the Gold Dome.
The Doug Rex Presentation starts at 12:15, followed by APT updates, and the
meeting will adjourn by 1:15 pm. APT Chair Lauren White will update the
group on the APT's progress and its support for bus and rail transit. A few
minutes have been set aside for a status report on the Oklahoma City MAPS
Streetcar Project and the related AA.
Urge a friend to attend!
>>>APT Awarded a Grant
APT was honored this summer by being awarded a transit coalition grant
following a tough national competition. The proceeds are primarily
programmed to APT website improvements, to help APT's new efforts in the
Tulsa metro area, to support member services, and help fund exciting
outreach initiatives. The grant is a great boost to our volunteer
organization.
>>>Sign the On-Line Petition to Congress

here is a chance for you to help that comes up only once every six or so
