[OKC] **** Oklahoma WATER Symposium - Water and Sanitation Issues in Emerging Regions

2010 Oklahoma WaTER Symposium

Talk with other leading experts about the latest research and efforts to solve water and sanitation challenges for developing countries. Hear five scientists, researchers, scholars and industry leaders from around the world share their experiences as they relate to the “Bottom Billion” -the 1.1 billion people in developing countries living on less than $1 a day and for whom a leading cause of death is diarrheal illnesses caused by lack of clean water and adequate sanitation. The panel discussion will take place Friday, Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to noon in the David L. Boren Auditorium at the National Weather Center in Norman, Okla. The winner of the second OU Water Prize will be announced at a complimentary luncheon following the panel discussion. 

 

Expert panelists include: Robert Adamski, V.P. for Municipal Infrastructure Programs, Gannett Fleming; Diana Betancourt, Regional Manager for Central America, Water for People; Jean McCluskey, formerly Global WASH Cluster Manager for UNICEF; James Mihelcic, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of South Florida; and Feleke Zewge, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia
