Subject: [PassRailOK] For Rep Morrissette

All,

Due to your efforts we are on the brink of landmark state passenger rail
legislation through the Eastern Flyer Passenger Rail Development Task Force.
This progress would also not have been possible without Representative
Richard Morrissette and his staff. Please continue contacting House
Majority Floor Leader Dan Sullivan, requesting that he place the Eastern
Flyer Passenger Rail Development Task Force on the House floor calendar.
Also begin contacting Governor Fallin and request that she sign the bill.
We are that close folks. There is more to come as we lobby for a 2011
Oklahoma Interim Study later this year and the 2012 session. Without giving
anything away, this should keep all state passenger rail efforts alive.

What can we do for Representative Morrissette and his staff in gratitude?
Representative Morrissette’s Woody Bio-Mass bill (House Bill 1486),
proposing to turn a state waste product into a state asset, is in trouble in
the Senate chamber. If enacted, the legislation can save the state money by
reducing the amount of woody bio-mass waste products.

The benefits are numerous. If you suffer with Red Cedar allergies like I
do, this bill is a very important. The bill is also important to Oklahoma’s
economy and ranchers who are losing the battle against the Western Red
Cedar. Wildfires, loss of grazing land, loss of water resources are all
unfortunate consequences of out-of-control Red Cedar proliferation. In this
worsening drought we cannot afford to sit idly by.

Please take a few minutes to contact your state Senator and request that
he/she vote in favor of this bill when it reaches the floor. Mention that
Senator Justice has proposed an amendment that will assure HB1486 will only
work to reduce costs for excess biomass. The new text is more palatable
with some Senators who have objected.
