Greetings APT Members!
Your APT has some exciting news to share with you about how to contact your
local elected officials and talk transit with them. There will be an APT
Lunch meeting on April 28th wherein you can learn more. See the document
included with this email to learn more. As always, if you have any questions
or comments, please send them to me, Joe Mecham, your APT webmaster at
jsmecham at cox.net and I will forward them to the appropriate Board member.
Respectfully,
Joe Mecham

>>>APT Lunch April 28: How to Petition City Councils about Transit
On April 28 at noon the Oklahoma Alliance for Public Transportation (APT) is
meeting at the Gold Dome building at the corner of NW 23rd and Classen in
Oklahoma City. Come learn about the four points that APT will be advocating
in Edmond, Moore, Norman, Midwest City, Oklahoma City and Del City in May.
Thank you to those who have already responded. The Oklahoma Alliance for
Public Transportation (APT) Outreach Committee and others volunteers will
get some brief, valuable training on April 28 by APT member Phillip Smith
and others.
The volunteers will get training and information about the APT's new
educational aims to prepare them to speak with elected officials in their
hometowns this spring before budgets get set. Many cities will be visited
and the idea is for 2-4 people to team-up for a May meeting with their
specific City Council or Council member. It takes you!
The APT is a 501c3 grassroots organization and it listened well to you in
2009, worked hard to help form and pass MAPS3, and you elected a new board
last summer. Come learn about what APT has in store and how you can get
more engaged in improving rail and rubber tire transit.
The lunch tickets will cost only $8 (pay at the door) and you are also
allowed to brownbag. You must RSVP by the end of Tuesday April 26 ONLY if
you want a lunch ticket and you may specify if you desire a vegetarian
sandwich. Please remember to attend and pay, as APT can not to cover afford
unpaid lunches.
Other than that, the meeting is free and there is ample parking in the lots
at the Gold Dome.
The presentation starts at 12:05, and the meeting will adjourn by 1:00 pm.
Urge a friend to attend!
Ride Free on Earth Day, April 22
The APT urges you to try transit on April 22 when METRO Transit will offer
rides at no charge on all fixed routes, all day. Edmond Citylink does not
charge fares either. For more information about routes, or just so you can
plan when and where to park and ride, point your browser to www.gometro.org.
