[OKC] Meat Glue a Sticky Problem

"Meat glue" IMO, is not the problem. It is a symptom of the problem. If you
left out the powered additives, this would be a fairly natural process. A
thoroughly kneaded hamburger patty sticks together because kneading
activates the coagulates. But the industry has taken this natural process
and turned it into something disgusting. This happens over and over again.
Just fifteen years ago there was a butcher in every grocery store deciding
what to do for his customers. Local grocers and butchers -- respectable folk
in town -- provided labor and skill. Now Walmart makes the decisions, and
labor is provided by recent immigrants. economic refugees from foreign
countries with deplorable living conditions. Thousands of workers and family
members move to small U.S. towns to work in huge facilities that kill as
many as 16,000 hogs and 6,000 cattle PER DAY. The underpaid workers and
their families burden schools, emergency rooms and other public services.
The dictatorial leaders in the workers home countries, instead of building
economies so their people could live in decent conditions and eat beef, sell
the cattle cheap in the US. The cattle are likely bought by Tyson or JBS, a
Brazilian Company -- the biggest cattle feeder in the US. The cattle are
likely slaughtered in a few plants owned by Tyson or JBS - again using more
economic refugee labor that have moved to small towns where the packing
plants are.
So after I microwave my
meat-glued-frozen-chicken-fried-Mexico-born-Brazilian-fed-beef-processed-by-
refugees-burdening-small-U.S.-towns I say "Come Lord Jesus, be our guest,"
and I wonder if He'd say "pass the ketchup" or if He'd leave the table. I
say "bless this food and the hands that prepared it" and I wonder if He
would upset the table and call me "hypocrite!"
