Here it comes …. the backlash to big oil, big gas, big coal, big biz, big gov, big bank selling out the future for short term earnings.

Dear friends,

Last night, Bill McKibben took the stage in front of ten thousand young people at the Power Shift conference in Washington D.C.

I have worked with Bill for a few years now, and I've seen him give a lot of speeches. Last night's fired me up like never before.

It's something you need to see:

In the speech, Bill outlined a vision for a powerful climate movement: united, focused, and strategic.

As you know, 350.org has spent the last few months building our campaign's capacity to work with you to grow this movement. We've joined forces with 1Sky. <http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=RavmkMWdJ%2FRZCy85WnaFNLaJq8m%2BlG%2F%2F> We're taking on the U.S. Chamber. <http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=fOQOEAk9YEVDXqCa7aKCx7aJq8m%2BlG%2F%2F> Now we're ready to kick things into high gear.

We'll be in touch much more frequently in the coming weeks, and we can't wait to learn more about the work that you're already doing to make 2011 a tipping point for our movement.

For now, please take a moment to watch this video <http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=XDneRQG4pVhQvFn%2FW3aTJ7aJq8m%2BlG%2F%2F> and get ready for a very big year.

Fired up,

May Boeve and the whole team at 350.org

P.S. In the speech, Bill made a big announcement about a major day of action we're planning for September 24th--it's called Moving Planet, and we think it's going to be hugely powerful. Much more on that soon.

P.P.S. We encourage you to spread this one around--here are links to share it on Twitter <http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=hEg2MjbSbOgDtKjNeQ83nraJq8m%2BlG%2F%2F> and Facebook. <http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=AAZS9zV3eoUZbiLZvMHB07aJq8m%2BlG%2F%2F>

  _____

350.org is an international grassroots campaign that aims to mobilize a global climate movement united by a common call to action. By spreading an understanding of the science and a shared vision for a fair policy, we will ensure that the world creates bold and equitable solutions to the climate crisis. 350.org is an independent and not-for-profit project.

What is 350? 350 is the number that leading scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. Scientists measure carbon dioxide in "parts per million" (ppm), so 350ppm is the number humanity needs to get below as soon as possible to avoid runaway climate change. To get there, we need a different kind of PPM—a "people powered movement" that is made of people like you in every corner of the planet.
