The most important work for Generations X ('65-'83), Y ('83-'00) and Z
('00-'15) is to eliminate the need for fossil fuels. Here are facts in
support:
1. Sunlight heats the air causing wind and evaporation which results in
rain.
2. Plants and animals turn heat, light and rain into food.
3. Heat is absorbed by the earth.
4. Heat, light, wind, rain and food combined with human labor and
ingenuity produces solar, wind, geothermal, bio-fuel and hydro power.
5. By 1900, these forms of energy sustained 2 billion people and all
their wealth.
6. After 1900 there was a heavily-subsidized, global power shift to
fossil fuels.
7. In 2011, fossil fuels sustain 7 billion people and all their wealth.
8. Oil is expected to last 43 years, natural gas - 63 years and coal -
119 years.
If we develop the ability as individuals to use safe, easily-accessible
forms of energy -- heat, light, wind, rain and food -- the transition from
fossil fuels will be an historic triumph of human ingenuity and if we do
not, it will be an historic human tragedy that will define these
generations.
