I have been dabbling with the garden for over 10 years now - and I think I have come to a decision regarding direction. I am going to be working with perennial fruits and veggies. John and I will also be using the space to develop medicinals (perennial and annual). I have obtained some Salt bush seeds (Atriplex halimus) - and have more than I need - so if any one would like some seeds - just let me know. I have purchased a plant cloning machine - and will be learning to propogate cuttings - and will be happy to share cuttings from the plants I have with any one who wants. Once I really get organized (hahahahaha) I will put a web site - and list all the plants that are currently available. This is a multi decade project - but you have to start somewhere right?
A question for the group.. Is there any interest in starting a list serv specifically dedicated to sharing information on food producing plants that seem to be well suited to Oklahoma? We could share knowledge and resources - plants, seeds, information - and most of all - encouragement. A big dream - is that some day we can go to the local city councils - and work with them to plant food producing plants in all the city common spaces such as parks. The other alternative is to continue to use Sustainable okc listserv and dialogue this issue - but I don't want to hog band width for one specific topic - if that does not work for the whole group.
Thanks.
David.
