This year's winter weather has been a good demonstration of the power that mother nature can assert when she deems it appropriate! With the return of warmer weather and the snow-melt, we can anticipate the annual upsurge of life in the plant world. To those of us who are attuned to nature-speak, spring also poses again the question: how can we best assist these life-giving forces? Thankfully, more and more people are becoming aware of the importance of that question! Although it's normal to associate the word "Biodynamics" with food, it is, first and foremost, about helping to restore the life of the earth itself. The focus of Biodynamics is the soil--how to bring more life into it rather than take life from it until it is exhausted and dead, and simply blows away. Last fall at the conscious living expo in Norman, I met a number of people who expressed an interest in Biodynamics. At this month's garden meeting, I would like to take up the question of where do we go from here. Is there an interest in more training? in creating Biodynamic compost & Biodynamic preparations? in converting gardens or farms to Biodynamics? in buying local, Biodynamic food? in treating landscapes Biodynamically? The meeting will be an open discussion of questions like these and any other questions that may come up. I will also answer questions about using a planting calendar, if time permits. The meeting will be on Sunday, February 27, at our home in Cashion, starting at 3:00 P.M. with a potluck meal to follow. If this is your first time at our home, please call or email for directions: 405-433-9000. Joseph and Helen
