Our friends at Oklahoma Agritourism have released the dates for the 2011
workshops. The SW OK date is January 19 in Burns Flat or travel to one of
the other quadrants of our beautiful state! Looking to start or expand your
ag attraction, these workshops provide a (relatively) close location and
great information.  Cost is only $25.

PRODUCER WORKSHOPS (Regional) 
Planting the Seeds for Succss
(1st) Located in the Southwest Region
Jan. 19th, 2011 - Located at the Western Technology Center
Burns Flat, Oklahoma 

 

These will be day long workshops in an effort to educate on Oklahoma
Agritourism program offerings as well as resources that you could find
helpful in your business.  It will feature program updates from the
Agritoursim Program as well as updates from the Oklahoma Tourism &
Recreation Department.  

 

The morning will be a "Marketing on the Internet" session with Brian
Whitacre from Oklahoma State University.  It will be a hands on learning
experience located in the computer where you can either bring your own or
one will be provided where he will show helpful sites to utilize to help
promote your business, this is a can't miss.  Other topics will include
Organic Licensing & Egg Regulations, Funding Options for Agrtourism
businesses, along with hearing a Oklahoma Agritourism Association Accredited
business.

OKLAHOMA AGRITOURISM ANNUAL CONVENTION

Februay 1st, 2011

Meridian Technology Center

Stillwater, OK  

 

The event will begin the evening of January 31st with a mixer at the host
hotel; the Holiday Inn Express & Suites.  The next day at Meridian
Technology Center there will be numerous things going on with Ronda Mikles
of Mikles Marketing & Management kicking off the event.  

 

There will be a variety of sessions offered such as Licensing Regulations
for Animal Related Activities through USDA amd lessons learned and successes
realized from a first year pumpkin patch/corn maze operator.  Other sessions
include alternative energy options and funding, incorporating wildlife
photography into your hunting business as well as information all vineyard &
winery owners will want to hear.  There will also be an Oklahoma Agritourism
Association Meeting.

 

The afternoon will include two different tour options, the Food and Products
Center at OSU (FAPC) or Bear Creek Farms in Stillwater where Vicki Stamback
specializes in Cut Flower Production.  Seats are limited!

  

 

TRI-STATE AGRITOURISM CONFERENCE

March 22 & 23rd

Pittsburgh, KS

 

Keynote Speaker Becky McCray will talk about better engaging your visitors
for more money! There will also be breakout sessions on "Expanding the
Experience", "Getting down to Marketing online" and Risk Management
Planning.  The day will conclude with an evening reception at the
Lamplighter Inn.

The next day will feature a session on partnering with your community.
There will be a discussion panel of a successful operators from each state
will share their challenges and successes.  The afternoon will entail
visiting some successful Kansas Agritourism Businesses.  

More specific details will follow along with registration instructions.
