I asked my twelve year old why people go to college. He said, "to get a
better job." Indeed, that is why I went, why my parents sent me and why the
university said I should go.. it was the answer of people who wanted to get
kids off the farm, out of small towns and out of poor neighborhoods . it is
a wholly unsatisfying and superficial answer. Perhaps there is an answer
that has something to do with the triple bottom line, sustainability,
transition, etc. So these are my questions:
Why do or should we send our kids to college?
Why do or should they go to college?
What do or should the universities deliver?
Based on the answers do you have any recommendations?
