Sustainable OKC's Board is Growing

Oklahoma City is transitioning to a brighter, more resilient and
sustainable future and we need more board members. SOKC is accepting
nominations for board members for terms beginning on July 1st, 2011.
Board terms are typically three years in length.

Sustainable OKC Board responsibilities include:

* Understanding Sustainable OKC's mission: SOKC is a grassroots
organization working at the crossroads of business, environment, and
social justice in Oklahoma City. SOKC works in cooperation with the
statewide group, Oklahoma Sustainability Network, and promotes community
sustainability by facilitating grassroots action, fostering awareness of
sustainability, and serving as an informational and networking resource
in the Oklahoma City area.

* Having an awareness and understanding of SOKC programs and
projects. More here: www.sustainableokc.org
<http://www.sustainableokc.org> .

* Attending and participating in monthly board meetings

* Leading or participating in the work of a committee and/or
programs and/or projects

* Actively supporting activities and special events through
attendance or preparation

* Networking and working with other volunteers and community
members

* Making a personal financial donation to Sustainable OKC in an
amount meaningful to the board member

* Attending meetings to represent SOKC

* Understanding that SOKC is an all-volunteer organization with
a "working board" that requires a time and energy commitment

If you or someone you know is interested in serving on the Sustainable
OKC board, please let us know. Self-nominations are totally cool! And
we really want to hear from our Sustainable OKC members.

Interested parties should submit a brief bio, a statement on why they
are interested in being a board member, and what skills or experience
you could use to SOKC's benefit. Although not necessary, any board
and/or volunteer experience, or nonprofit affiliations is useful.
Knowing about work experience, educational background and interests
assists our board in evaluating candidates and, if elected to the board,
will help us match a person's interests to programs and projects.

Deadline for nominations is Friday, June 17.
