"Sustainable Lawn Care: Smart Alternatives for Healthy Lawns" is the next event
in the Sustainable Sites education series.  The panel discussion will take place
Thursday March 24 at 7 pm in Room 226 of the Agricultural Resource Center on the
OSU/OKC campus at 400 N. Portland (just south of the farmers market pavilion).

How can you save energy, time and money in lawn care? Are there any good
alternatives to the endless fertilize/mow/herbicide regimen? Are there
attractive alternatives to standard grass lawns? These are some of the questions
that will be discussed by:

Thom Marak of Next to Nature Gardening LLC of Norman. Thom does all aspects of
landscaping organically, from designing utilizing Permaculture principles to
rehabilitating problem lawns. He wants to help dispel myths about organic lawn
care.

Dennis Martin, PhD, Professor and Turfgrass Extension Specialist at OSU
Stillwater. Dennis takes a practical, scientific approach to grass management,
examining claims and evaluating synthetic and organic products.

John Trimber of Farmers Grain in Edmond. When the owner of Farmers Grain wanted
to go completely organic, John doubted whether the store could survive. Now an
organic convert, he is Vice President of the Oklahoma Organic Gardening
Association.

Randy Marks of Groundwork: Applied Design will moderate the discussion. And,
there will be several door prizes provided by Farmers Grain!
