Howdy friends!
I hope everyone has enjoyed the lovely spring weather this fall. I mean, we deserved it after last summer's oppressive heat. However, it looks like the fall is done flip flopping, and the cold is here to stay. This means the UH gang will be busy inside the greenhouse planting leafy green and other hearty winter veggies. If you're thinking about volunteering on a Tuesday or Thursday morning over the winter months, make sure you email, call or text me first to see what we're doing.
*Harry Hopper (our lovely rabbit) says, “Don't forget to wear a coat!”.

2. Events
Our next open volunteer Saturday will be take place after the holidays. These lend a hand Saturdays allow community groups and individuals the opportunity to work in the garden and tour our facilities. Look for more details in upcoming Urban Harvest News.
Do you like movies, burritos, and supporting Urban Harvest? Of course you do! Well, December 7th at 6:30pm at Convergence in the Plaza District (OKC) is a night for you. (You may want to mark your calendars right now.) The good people at Chipotle have agreed to have a donation fundraiser for us. For a (suggested) donation of $5 you'll get a tasty burrito, chips, salsa, a private screening of the film Fresh in one of OKC's most interesting areas and the satisfaction of knowing you're supporting our efforts to feed senior citizens and elementary aged kids. It's a good deal. Tell your friends and Family. We hope to see you there!
*Harry says “Supporting local is hip!”.

3. Announcements
>From the UH Director’s Desk:
“We’re super excited to accelerate our outreach and educational programs this year. The students in our partner afterschool program at Community Youth Outreach live in one of OKC’s most food insecure zip codes. Your volunteer hours help us spend more time teaching these amazing 3rd-5th graders where fresh, healthy food comes from and showing them how to grow it for themselves. We know there are a lot of worthwhile volunteer opportunities in central Oklahoma and we appreciate the time you choose to spend with us.”

One Last Thing:
It can't be said enough, Thank you! We've been busy building a program to educate and nourish Oklahomans in need, and we couldn't do it without your time and energy! Thanks for your support.
*Harry says “Don’t eat too much pie this week! I won’t… because I’m a rabbit.”.
