Knowing of you past interactions with the City of Edmond, I wanted to make you aware of an upcoming vacancy on the City of Edmond’s Urban Forestry Commission. Though the commission member is appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council, I am trying to get some professionals from fields like Landscape Architecture and Forestry to the pool of candidates. Urban Forestry Commission members must be citizens and residents of Edmond. I know all of you do not live within Edmond’s City limits, but please help me to get the word out to any of your acquaintances who may be a good fit. Two of the specific goals the Commission has set for this year are to: Improve the City’s landscaping ordinance, and further develop urban forestry outreach programs.

Anyone who is interested can contact me soon and I will help get your information in for the Mayors consideration. The appointment is for a three year term, meetings are held once a month, every second Wednesday at 4:30.

The purpose of the Commission is to:
promote and protect the public health, safety, and general welfare by providing for the development of a community forestry plan to encourage the use and preservation of trees and address the planting, maintenance, and removal of public trees and shrubs within the City of Edmond in order to promote, maintain, and improve the urban forest resource of the City of Edmond.
