Environmental seminar focuses on stormwater quality

Residents interested in learning more about green infrastructure are invited to attend a free Stormwater Quality class offered by the City of Oklahoma City from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 22 in building three of the Public Works Training Facility, 3738 SW 15th Street (SW 15th St and S Portland Ave).

Raymond Melton, Environmental Protection Manager for the City of Oklahoma City, will give an overview of Oklahoma City's Storm Water Quality and the effects people have on stormwater quality.

"People often underestimate the impact they have on water quality," Melton said.  "During the hour long presentation, we will discuss everything from the impact construction has on water quality to the importance of conducting water sampling in creeks and rivers."

Participants will tour the City's Household Hazardous Waste facility after the presentation.

The class is free and open to the public. Registration is not necessary. Lunch is not provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own food.

The Stormwater Quality class is the second in a series of free monthly classes offered through the City of Oklahoma City's green infrastructure taskforce.
