Gail Tverburg -- the Peak Oil Actuary -- has released another trenchant
analysis of the present world economic dilemma. We seem to have a design
flaw in our economies. They work fine as long as it is either in first,
second, or drive gear going forward. But we don't have a reverse gear.
She's noting the general decline in commodity prices over the past four
years, and says this may indicate an increasing affordability problem,
since wages have not kept pace with the rise in energy prices since the
year 2000. All I can say is "pay off your debts as quick as you can"
because deflation is hell on debtors. Lots of good data here and plenty
of charts. Much grist for the mill.
