business back in the early 1990s, and "it is the same everywhere." Go to a
convention in Kansas City, Denver, Dallas, California, Florida, wherever. . .
all the convention facilities basically have the same look and feel. The
meals are all the same kind of cheap, poorly-prepared food. If Oklahoma
City wants to be successful in attracting conventions, we need to show that we
have something that is attractively different. Helping conventions
minimize their carbon footprint, by offering them facilities in a very "green"
convention center will help convention organizers market their meetings and
attract more visitors. With the many challenges presently faced by the
convention business, and the possibility of permanently changed economic
systems, we need something to set Oklahoma City apart. Shauna did a great job of
explaining that clearly and compellingly.</FONT></DIV>
