serving almost two years as president of Sustainable OKC, I wanted to let you
know I am stepping down at the end of the month. I won’t tell you
it’s to spend more time with my family since that’s usually code
for some sort of scandal</span><span style='font-family:"Corbel","sans-serif";
color:#1F497D'>. T</span><span style='font-family:"Corbel","sans-serif";
color:black'>here is none, as I don’t have enough energy left to hatch
anything nefarious -- I’m simply ready for a break and Sustainable OKC
is fortunately blessed with good leadership ready to take the helm. I will
continue to serve on the board as past president and as co-chair of the
Transition Town OKC project. It’s been a privilege to be prez </span><span
style='font-family:"Corbel","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>(</span><span
style='font-family:"Corbel","sans-serif";color:black'>I’ve learned so
much and made many new friends). My heartfelt thanks to all of you.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

pleased to announce that Dan Yates, one of Sustainable OKC’s board
members, was unanimously elected president and will take office effective
Feb. 1. Dan is Director of Organization Development at the Groundwater
Protection Council. As a Sustainable OKC board member, Dan has worked
diligently on the Buy Fresh Buy Local Central Oklahoma initiative, served as
our board secretary, and planned, organized and reinstated member
meetings. He is an eloquent and articulate writer and speaker, skilled organizer,
an enthusiastic beer aficionado, and all-around great guy to hang out with.
Did I mention he has a beautifully dry and sarcastic sense of humor? <o:p></o:p></span></p>

worked for a national non-profit for 10 years I’d been looking for a

everything I know about sustainable living, I’ve learned since becoming

like to see two things happen. First, we need more sidewalks in OKC. Second,
I’d like to see 100,000 people (or more) change at least one thing in
their life to become more sustainable. I think the individual choices we make
have the greatest impact.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
