Spring is emerging and with it some very innovative ideas. Check out the <a
href="http://transitionus.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=16a9bff55e0e10287af37f7e0&id=b147f270ff&e=25f6e518be">Marin
Carbon Project</a>. It is sequestering large percentages of carbon in the
soil by mimicking natural cycles of grazing (where animals are moving
through pasturelands), indigenous plantings and organic fertilization
techniques. To give you an idea of the scale of the solution they
are coming up with: 6 tons of carbon added yearly to 1/3 of California’s
rangeland soils equals all of California’s yearly emissions.… All of
them. Such a dramatic possibility brought agricultural directors
from the People’s Republic of China over for an in-depth visit from which
they left very pleased.<br>

proud to announce the launch of their new website (<a

This project was initiated in 2009 in response to the rapidly growing
number of Transition Initiatives around the world. This initial release
meets the core need for consolidating community information (initiatives,
people, and projects) and in our opinion is pretty darn cool.<br>
<br>
One aspect of the project we here at Transition US are most excited about
is the prospect of replacing the original “mullers maps” that have served
us well but couldn’t keep up with the pace of the movement. We will be
asking for your assistance in populating this new centralized database
with more details about you and your TI in the weeks and months ahead.
