governmental leaders in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas are being denied an adequate
opportunity to comment on the U.S. State Department’s report on the
environmental impact of a huge pipeline that will carry Canadian Tar Sand crude
to the Gulf of Mexico. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

will have huge impacts on the people and land in its path as well as our energy
future. The pipeline is huge – 3 feet in diameter – carrying nearly
1 million barrels per day. Tar Sand Crude causes massive destruction when
mined, greater pollution when refined and emits more pollutants when burned. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in'><span
style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in'><span
style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'>The U.S.
State Department needs to hear from people who live and work in the environment
being impacted most. So far it is virtually impossible to comment effectively.
The Draft EIS – 1600 pages long -- was released on April 16, 2010. Only
10 business days later two pubic comment meetings were held in Oklahoma: May
3rd I Durant and May 4th in Stroud. No other meetings are planned in Oklahoma.
The deadline for written comments is June 16, 2010. This process has insured
there will not be adequate opportunity for public comment. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in'><span
style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p>

meeting will provide an opportunity for affected state, county and local
governments and individual citizens to receive and share information and
cooperate to submit comments before the June 16 deadline. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
