<span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"'>Beyond public
policy, the way each of us chooses to live has a lasting impact on the world
around us. Recent legislation in Oklahoma is aimed at promoting more renewable
energy production, but individuals, too, can have a tremendous effect on
environmental issues.</span> <br>
<br>
<span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"'>
For Oklahomans who are interested in sustainable living and
learning how to minimize their impact on the Earth and its natural resources, I
encourage you to attend the Oklahoma Sustainability Conference at the
University of Central Oklahoma June 11-12.</span> <br>
<br>
<span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"'>
The conference will offer sessions on a variety of topics—from
current issues and public policy to talks on practical actions individuals can
take to protect our planet.</span> <br>
<br>
<span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"'>
A Homeowner’s Workshop will help individuals minimize their use
of resources by making economical and environmentally-friendly changes around
their homes. The workshop will cover topics such as organic and native
landscaping, weatherization and geothermal systems.</span> <br>
<br>
<span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"'>
For Oklahomans with a green thumb—or those interested in
developing one—another session will feather “The Gardener Guy,” Paul James on
organic gardening.</span> <br>
<br>
<span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"'>
Keynote speaker Michael Patton, executive director of the
Metropolitan Environmental Trust in Tulsa, will speak on recycling and
Katharine Hayhoe, a research associate professor of atmospheric sciences at
Texas Tech University will give a lecture on climate change.</span> <br>
<br>
<span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"'>
Other conference sessions will cover energy independence, green
building codes, and other topics.</span> <br>
<br>
<span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"'>
We have the freedom to make lifestyle decisions that will protect
and improve the land, air and water in Oklahoma, and across the globe, and
leave a cleaner, safer world for future generations. We can also educate
ourselves about these important issues and advocate for common-sense and
environmentally sound public policy.</span> <br>
<br>
<span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"'>
The Oklahoma Sustainability Conference will take place June 11-12
at the Nigh University Center at the University of Central Oklahoma. Admission
is $75 for both days or $42.50 for a single day. For more information, visit </span><a
