Awarded a Coalition Grant </span></b><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNoSpacing><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>APT has
been awarded a transit coalition grant. The proceeds are programmed to
website improvements, to help APT’s new efforts in the Tulsa metro area,
to support member services, and help fund exciting outreach initiatives. The
grant was not enough to hire anyone, but is a great boost to a grassroots,
volunteer organization. APT remains the only 501c3 transit coalition in
the state. </span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNoSpacing><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>Come learn
and express yourself about planning for streetcars and other transit for the
greater downtown Oklahoma City on Thursday, August 26. COTPA’s
Alternatives Analysis (AA) meetings are at the auditorium of the Norick Library
located at 300 Park Ave. The lunchtime meeting will start at noon and end at 1
p.m. The evening meeting will cover the same information and will start at 6:00
p.m. and end at 7:00 p.m. Additional information about the transit planning
process will be on display 20 minutes prior to each meeting. APT held about
eight community meetings in the summer and fall of 2009 to help build interest
and gauge support for the idea of MAPS3 streetcar, and the August 26 meetings
are related to that. Come learn and also express yourself.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNoSpacing><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>Since
early 2007, the APT has been advocating funds for an Alternatives Analysis (AA)
for the commuter rail corridor between Edmond and Norman, and also Bricktown to
Midwest City and TAFB. What started as APT’s lone voice has now become a
chorus of various entities and the latest transit success! During
July and August, elected and other leaders have set aside about a million
dollars in federal funds to authorize the study. The 20% match will have
to be secured, and the study’s start date is yet to be determined but
will likely be in mid 2011, and this is a key step forward. APT will also
urge the approval of to 20% local match.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
