font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">An Oklahoma City couple, Barbara Hagen and Bruce Johnson, have lived “off the grid” using only solar and wind power for 34 years and will detail
their story during a free presentation on Thursday, December 1 from 7 – 8:30 p.m.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:6.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;
font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">The event will take place on the second floor of the Engineering Technology building at OSU-OKC, 900 N. Portland.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:6.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;
font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">The presentation will cover the importance of energy efficiency while exploring the day-to-day activities of Hagen and Johnson’s low-impact
lifestyle. The couple uses renewable energy in their northeast Oklahoma City home for space heating, hot water heating, water pumping and to power ovens and food dehydrators.

font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">“Bruce and Barbara’s home is full of innovative and creative adaptations to off-the-grid living,” Jennifer Gooden, director of the City’s Office
of Sustainability said. “Sustainability is not just a buzz word for them — it’s a way of life.”<o:p></o:p></span></p>

font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Low-impact living is a lifestyle in which people attempt to minimize the use of the earth's natural resources and their own resources.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">“Energy efficiency and conservation are the most important aspects of the low-impact lifestyle,” said Johnson.
