Deadline for Nominations February 22, 2008 

(No extensions are possible due to time constraints on ordering awards.)

 

Nominators will be notified of the Awards Committee's decision by March
7.  This committee consists of previous OSN award recipients: Deborah
Dalton, Jennifer Gooden, Ilda Hershey, Emma McCauley, Fenton Rood, Rita
Scott, Seneca Scott, Susie Shields, Bob Waldrop, Corey Williams and Jay
Yowell. (Unfortunately, 2006 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient,
Carrie Dickerson, is now deceased.) If all possible, we will keep these
awards a secret from the recipients until they are presented at the OSN
conference on March 28-29, 2008 on Downtown Norman.  We have requested
the name and contact information of a co-nominator just as an additional
reference to support your nomination.  

 

OSN Award Parameters

 

Emily McCauley Leadership Award (for Oklahoma Sustainability Efforts)

This award exemplifies Emily McCauley's tireless efforts as a pioneer in
promoting sustainability concepts in Oklahoma, including founding the
Oklahoma Sustainability Network in 1998.  (Previous recipients include
Jennifer Gooden, Rita Scott, Corey Williams, Ilda Hershey, Emily
McCauley; this award was merged with the OSN Leadership Award in order
of streamlining our process. Past recipients of that award are Seneca
Scott and Jay Yowell, who will be added to McCauley Award recipient list
next year.)

 

Mother Earth Award (for Sustainability Education)

This award exemplifies Susie Shields' dedication as a pioneer in
sustainability education, including developing Oklahoma's Use Less Stuff
Campaign and chairing the State's first sustainability conference.
(Previous recipients include Deborah Dalton, Fenton Rood, Bob Waldrop,
Susie Shields)

 

*** NEW! Green Business/Organization Award

The official criteria for this award has not been formally crafted as
yet. However, the Awards Committee recommends that both businesses and
organizations that are sustainable internally as well as those who
assist others (externally) with becoming more sustainable will be
considered.

 

Carrie Dickerson Lifetime Achievement Award (Not to be presented
annually) This award recognizes exceptional lifetime achievement toward
the long-term improvement of Oklahoma's economy, ecology, and equity.
