APT News: February 9-10 SWTA Conference Opportunity for You!

Be part of the excitement with several hundred conference attendees from
about five states!

Come to a professional transit conference in Oklahoma City on all or part of
February 9 and 10. Or volunteer to be a "session monitor" at a session that
interests you.

The Oklahoma Alliance for Public Transportation (APT) has collaborated with
the Southwest Transit Association (SWTA) to allow up to twenty (20) APT
partners the opportunity to attend session in scholarship, free of charge.
This is normally a $350 value, but SWTA wishes to help APT energize
involvement by Oklahoma transit advocates (citizens and nontransit industry
professionals)!

This means the APT can have people come to the EXPO vendor exhibits, General
Sessions, and Breakout Sessions on February 9 and 10, but you must start
your free registration by showing interest by answering this APT email (name
and phone number by 5pm Wednesday, January 21). Visit the SWTA website at
to learn about the conference and its speakers at <http://www.swta.org>
www.swta.org .

A few session highlights as of last week:

Tuesday, Feb 10 at 10:45 -Federal and regional updates (and more!) from Bill
Millar and Dale Marsico, the Presidents of America's two largest transit
advocacy groups, APTA and CTAA.

Tuesday, Feb 10 at 8:30 - Transit's role in emergency mass evacuations
(floods, leaks, etc.)

Monday, Feb 9 at 1:00 - Rail System safety

Monday, Feb. 9 at 1:30 - Oklahoma Transit Innovation Ideas that Work

Monday, Feb. 9 at 2:45 - Amazing Transit Ridership Success Stories and How
to gain Teenage Riders

Monday, Feb 9 at 8:30 - Hear a Fulbright Scholar lecture on effective
emergency transportation management in the U.S. and Europe

Expo Vendor Hall: Monday 7:45-3 pm

No meals or social events are included in the offer, but if someone wants to
purchase a meal ticket it will be $25 per meal. In fact, the Oklahoma APT
will find a way to make one meal ticket available to "Session Monitors" if
they register to be a session monitor by the end of Tuesday, January 20.
Session monitors can register for the session they want and attend mainly to
distribute and collect evaluation forms, obtain items for that speaker, seek
an equipment technician, and so forth.

Check out the STWA website at <http://www.swta.org> www.swta.org and
sign-up by answering this email by January 21. Call (405) 297-3876 for
information.
