*	June 16 - General Meeting. Raising Backyard Chickens. Join us at
7:00 for wine and cheese and 7:30 for the program. In celebration of LOCAL
FOODS WEEK JUNE 13-20, Sara Braden will discuss the joys of backyard
chickens and the legislative barriers to this important area of food

*	June 15, 16, June 19 - "Wish you could see some of the scenery of an
exotic hike but just can't seem to get away?"  Well check out OETA's Globe
Trekker either on Thursday June 16  (our monthly meeting night) at 9 PM, or
a encore on Sunday the 19th at 6 PM, to see "Best American Hikes":  scenery
from the Great Tetons in Wyoming, Mount Rainier in Washington , and the
Sangre de Cristo mountains in Colorado.  And, OBW, you might enjoy "The
Mystery of Chaco Canyon" on Wed June 15 at 10 PM.  This canyon, located in
NW New Mexico, is perhaps the only site constructed in an elaborate pattern
that mirrors the yearly cycle of the sun and the 19-year cycle of the moon. 
*	June 18 - Burgers and Beer party at David Franklin's house.  The
outings committee invites all members and friends to join us for a causal
party to relax and swap stories of fun outings and garner ideas for fall
outings.  Party starts at 5:30 PM, we'll supply burgers and all the fixings,
beer and soft drinks, you bring a side dish to share.

monthly meeting spot. 
*	June 25 - Water garden tour. Tour some of the most beautiful water
gardens in central Oklahoma in the annual free tour sponsored by the Water
Garden Society of Oklahoma. We will go as a group on Saturday, June 25th at
8:30 a.m., meeting to carpool at a site to be determined. Some gardens are
shaded, some are not, some are beginning gardens, others are advanced, and,
occasionally, one is a converted swimming pool with mature planting. The
owners and creators host each of these gardens. This is an excellent tour
for the person who wants ideas, or the person who like to enjoy others'
gardens. We will meet at a site to be determined to carpool and tour four or
five gardens, ending with a picnic lunch in Martin Nature Center, or a
restaurant lunch, ending about 2 p.m. The garden tour is not a Sierra Club
sponsored event and has not been organized by Sierra Club. Contact Nancy

*	July 14 - 17- Sea Kayaking and Service in the Shadow of Mt. Rainier
- This outing is offered by the Washington state (aka Cascade) Chapter of
Sierra Club and is being run by Lehman Holder, former Cimarron Group Outings
Leader. We'll be working with the Washington state parks department on a
service project at Hope Island State Marine Park in south Puget Sound, plus
exploring the area around Hope Island by sea kayak. Although south Puget
Sound is not a wilderness area, it offers excellent paddling (salt water)
with the huge, snow-covered bulk of Mt. Rainier (14,410') looming in the
background. Service work will likely be done in the mornings, with the
afternoons and evenings free for paddling.

*	July 16 - Tour the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulpher, Oklahoma.
Come spend the day learning more about the Chickasaw Peoples' history,
culture, food and explore the many exhibits and places at the new Chickasaw
Cultural Center.  This trip includes a group lunch at the Aaimpa' Café,
July's Featured Film in the Anoli Theater, the Chikasha Inchokka'
Traditional Village, and the Aaholiitobli' Honor Garden.  RESERVATIONS ARE
REQUIRED BY JULY 11TH for group rates and lunch.  RSVP to Outings Leader

*	July 21 - General Meeting. Bryan E. Reynolds recently founded a
non-profit organization here in Oklahoma called The Butterflies of the World
Foundation (BOTWF). They provide entertaining, age-specific, multimedia
presentations about butterflies and butterfly conservation using world-class

award-winning nature and wildlife photographer with numerous national and

*	July 30 - August 7 -  Backpack Rocky Mountain National Park - Hike
Colorado's most scenic park, where one breathtaking scene after another
awaits those willing to make the effort. Spend summer nights in the crisp,
