Creating an Oklahoma Garden workshop with Lia Woods, farm manager at
Guilford Gardens.
Saturday May 21, 9-noon.
832 NE 84th
OKC , OK 73114
Lia will demonstrate how to prepare and plant a garden. No, it is not tool
late to get a garden planted this year! Come and learn what to plant and how
to do it.
Here is what Lia will cover in the class:
We will make 2 small beds, different styles. One is a method using discarded
kiddie wading pools as a raised bed and filling with a high quality soil mix
that we'll make. The other is simply digging out the bermuda, amending the
soil, and planting. Both are inexpensive, accessible methods.
The plan is:
Introduction
Dig out bermuda from soil bed. Level area for wading pool bed.
Compost: how to build a pile, using compost, etc.
Add compost to soil bed, mix ingredients for wading pool bed.
Plant.
Trellis for cucumbers, cages for tomatoes.
Mulch.
Water in.
Ending comments and questions.
I'll talk about each step as we go along, have some tools and other items
for show and tell. Hopefully a good combination of information + simplicity.
