On Saturday, May 16th, the 9th annual Beautification Station tour will take
participants across Oklahoma City to see some of the hidden gems of
sustainable design and low-impact development including a residential green
roof, community gardens, beautified medians and more.

The tour will begin and end at the Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area
Command, the new 50,000-square foot facility at 1001 N. Pennsylvania
Avenue. Registration will begin at 8:20 a.m. and the tour buses will leave
promptly at 9 a.m.

The buses will travel Oklahoma City on a three hour tour, stopping at
locations for you to disembark and explore sustainable projects and hear
personal accounts from the volunteers, professionals and organizations
responsible.

Two major stops include the Winnie Mae House, a prairie-style home with a
sloped garden-style sub-canopy green roof originally installed in 1951, and
a tour of Goodwill Industries of Central Oklahoma's 40,000-square foot
Chesapeake Environmental Recycling Center, where millions of pounds of
waste are diverted from landfills.

The buses will return to Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area Command
around 12 p.m. where lunch will be provided by Panera Bread and you'll
learn about the Create Great Neighborhoods grant program offered by OG&E.

Beautification Station 2015 is a partnership of OKC Beautiful, Neighborhood
Alliance and the City of Oklahoma City Office of Sustainability. Space is
limited and registration is required. There is a small $5 fee.

Important items to remember:

   - Children under 12 are not allowed.
   - Wear comfortable walking shoes.
   - Water, snacks and lunch will be provided.
   - The $5.00 registration fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
