*Grow, Laugh and Play in the Dirt Day!*

Awakening Oklahoma, a new networking group in the Oklahoma City area, will
host Grow, Laugh and Play in the Dirt, a community event, from noon to 4
p.m., May 3, at SixTwelve, in the Oklahoma City Paseo Arts District. This
family-friendly free event will feature hands-on projects for all ages
sponsored by area businesses and organizations.

Attendees can paint a rain barrel that comes with a gutter kit—a
collaborative community effort with supplies provided by Great Plains
Coca-Cola Bottling Company, paint provided by Sustainable OKC, and
instructions and water conservation tips provided by Jennifer Alig and
James Varnum, of SixTwelve. Paul Mays, also of SixTwelve, will guide
visitors through a step-by-step container garden project using reusable
grocery sacks. BC Summers, from TradeShare, will facilitate a variety of
hands-on, fun activities for all ages. Visitors can enjoy petting goats and
laughter yoga breaks with teacher Ellen Mercer throughout the event, along
with local food, veggies, fruit and eggs available for purchase from Urban
Agrarian.

Volunteers are needed, and local businesses and organizations interested in
participating in this event can set up a vendor booth at no charge as long
as they provide a hands-on project for attendees.

Awakening Oklahoma gives residents and business owners an atmosphere to be
themselves, share ideas and discuss how to give back to the community. The
group hosts conscious conversation networking meetings in Oklahoma City,
Norman, Edmond, Yukon and Weatherford.
