My Alma Mater, OSU, is the land grant university in Oklahoma. It was
created under the Morrill Act to disseminate scientific, engineering and all
other types of knowledge to the industrial classes - in other words, working
folks. In Oklahoma, through the Constitution we placed the land grant in the
hands of nine people five of whom are to be farmers. As the O'Colly, OSU's
student newspaper, reports, the Governor and the Senate have chosen to
ignore this law and Vice President of University Relations Gary Clark says,
in effect, "I'm good with that."

Clark said only one property was acquired through eminent domain. That one
property was a 3000-square-foot property that Kevin and Joel McCloskey
owned. ...

"Article VI, Section 31a of the Oklahoma Constitution reads: There is hereby
created a Board of Regents for the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical
College and all Agricultural and Mechanical Schools and Colleges maintained
in whole or in part by the State. The Board shall consist of nine (9)
members, eight (8) members to be appointed by the Governor by and with the
advice and consent of the Senate, a majority of whom shall be farmers, and
the ninth member shall be the President of the State Board of Agriculture."

Gary Clark, Vice President of University Relations said "he is familiar with
the section in the Oklahoma Constitution that is in question in this case
and said he agrees it's a law that the governor and the Senate have chosen
to disregard. However, Clark said he's happy with the members serving on
the Board of Regents and happy with the decisions the board has made."
